Since you are currently identifying yourself as a Metis person, it is likely you also answered yes to the first question on Aboriginal ancestry.

Having fulfilled two of the three criteria for identification as a Metis person, you are certainly fully justified in identifying yourself as a Metis person. If you answered -no- or -don't know- to the Aboriginal ancestry question, your decision to identify yourself as a Metis person can only be fully validated through the support of a Metis community or organization. This validation would only be necessary if you are seeking some social or economic benefit through your identification as a Metis person. If you are not seeking social or economic benefit, it is unlikely anyone would have a reason to challenge your assertion of Metis identity.
