Considering the thousands of Metis people who have come out of the ethnic closet in the last decade, we can only assume there are a great many people like yourself in Canada. We encourage you to continue your exploration of your indigenous heritage and hope we can provide you with information that will be helpful to you.
If you answered the first question with a -no- but privately identify yourself as a Metis, we would be very interested in learning why you would do that. There are some legitimate reasons we have identified --such as adoption by or marriage into a Metis family. If there are other we have not considered, we would like to hear what they are.
