Resolution No. 24 - Mandate for Confederacy of the Metis Peoples in Canada

Whereas: The 21st Annual General Meeting of the Native Council of  Canada supported the formation of a Confederacy of Métis Peoples in Canada: and 

Whereas The Confederacy has attracted participation from individuals and groups from both within NCC and those not affiliated with the NCC who wish to pursue the representation of Métis issues on behalf of Métis individuals, organizations and communities in all parts of Canada who do not consider themselves represented by the Métis National Council. 

Therefore, Be It Resolved 

That this Annual General Meeting of the Native Council of Canada express its continued support of the Confederacy of Métis Peoples in Canada and authorizes the continued use of the NCC infrastructure and administrative facilities for the activities of the Confederacy. 

and be it further resolved 

That this Annual Assembly instruct and mandate the NCC in its consultation with the federal government on the implementation of the inherent right of self-government, to contain in its design and execution of that project a specific component devoted to the implementation of the inherent right of self-government for the Métis constsituency of the NCC.
